A female United States age 36-40, anonymous writes:

Everytime my boyfriend and I had sex last month, it was unprotected and he did ejaculate inside of me everytime. Now I'm 3 almost 4 days late. I'm almost positive that I'm pregnant. I hava already taken 2 pregnancy tests which both came out negative, but it might have been to early to tell. I also have had 2 miscarriages. Is it logical that I'm pregnant?? Even with the 2 miscarriages??

A female reader, anonymous, writes (9 February 2007):

Firstly some people can be up to about a week late so it doesn't mean that you are pregnant because your period is a few days late. Secondly you can get pregnant after 2 miscarriages. And thirdly there is a slight chance that both pregnancy tests are incorrect but i think that you should leave it for longer and if your period doesn't come for a week or so then try another pregnancy test but it doesn't look likely that you are pregnant.

You are 18-21, not married, had two miscarriages, and are having unprotected sex with your boyfriend frequently and are dissappointed that you are not pregnant.

Why do you want to have a baby when you are this young and unmarried? Is your boyfriend aware that you are trying to get pregnant? That was your real issue right, not that the pregnancy tests did not give you the answer that you are so sure of....

You live in the US, are you looking to go on welfare and collect a government check? Those funds have a limit of how long you can collect benefits and they reduce them after awhile, your kid will be your financial responsibility for more than 18 years, what and how do you plan on supporting this little person? Don't count on your boyfriend sticking around once you become pregnant.

Please get smart and use protection, preferably the pill.

3-4 days late is really nothing. Don't keep doing tests. If you don't want a baby then use protection and don't have an unwanted baby, it's as simple as that.

Take care

A female reader, appygal81 United States +, writes (2 February 2007):

appygal81 agony auntthats a good question. after about 4 days the pregnancy hormone should be detectable. did you take your tests in the morning? the hormone level is higher in the morning. try taking another test when you are aweek late. take it in the morning. and see what happens. aside from that the only way you will find out is if you go into your local health clinic. If you are pregnant and the hormone is not registering on the pregnancy test, thats probably not a good sign. you are probably looking at another miscarriage. If the hormone is not present, there is no room for development. i say go to your clinic as you wont get much more info than that on here.

Firstly, why arn't you using protection and why arn't you on the pill?

Secondly if the tests say no, then your not! Your just late coming on.

Use protection!
