A female reader, DrPsych United Kingdom +, writes (21 May 2006):

DrPsych agony auntOne cause of your symptoms is a hormone imbalance (many women on the menopause have dryness because of their declining female hormones, but it affects younger ladies too). I used to work in a family planning clinic about ten years ago and I can vaguely recall quite a few women coming in with those kind of symptoms that were attributed to them not getting along with their contraceptive pill - they changed brand and symptoms got better. So, if you take the pill maybe you want to consider having a chat with your doctor?
