So_Very_Confused agony auntIt's normal for him.

At least he tells you. Does he SHOW YOU?

my husband never says I love you. He only can manage it when he's drunk. He does however, show me he loves me very much all the time.

Words are just words... actions in this case matter.

Would you prefer it if he said I love you within a week or two?

janniepeg agony auntIt's good he finally found the courage to say it. His actions in the relationship are much more important than words. If you feel that he is being consistent throughout the relationship, I would not be concerned. There could be a hidden standard that the L word should be exchanged by the 6 month mark, the guy initiating first. I don't think 14 months is too much off the mark. True love is not measured by when a guy says it. People should say it whenever love pours out of them, not automatically at 6 months. Every relationship is unique. It is not like a predictable milestone such as a baby growing teeth at 7 months, walking at 1, etc.
