Isn't it fair that I start paying rent when I actually move in?

A female United States, anonymous writes:

My bf and I are planning to move in together by march. He moved into a bigger apartment and we both paid for the 1st payment (I paid $1000 and he $674). We talked about me paying about 65 - 70% of the rent since I make more money, which is fine with me. However, I am still paying for my mortgage back where I live; so I told him that I was not able to pay for the month of february and march since I am still paying for my house and still living in it as well. He got mad at me and won't talk to me about the issue. He texted me saying he will cover the rent and not to worry; but I know he is not satisfied!! He has not called me for the entire day which is not usual; meaning that he is upset.

How do I talk to him? Don't u think is fair for me to start paying for rent once I completely move in?
