Well, looking at it from the other perspective, he could just be wanting to spend more time with his good friend, as i'm assuming your friend takes out of your ex's time to be with you.
However, if you want to really find out what's going on, there is no use becoming paranoid and just thinking he is, and making a whole deal out of nothing. Confront your boyfriend, and ask him straight in the face, but not bluntly; might sound rude.
