I was wondering if that is true or did she have a quack for a doctor? Also if it is true does anyone know any birth control pills that are designed for larger women?

I'm betting the doc was thinking mini-pill. She can and should get a second opinion I know lots of SMO (super morbidly obese ([a MEDICAL term not an insult]) that are on BCP for birth control.
It's MANDATORY after gastric bypass and some of these women are over 300 pounds.

They think those pills make them look fat (and there is a little bit of truth in that). Also, they have to take the pill every night otherwise their period gets messed up, so those pills are definitely not designed for unorganized girls who forget to take them.
As zippy87 mentioned, she might be trying to make you wear condoms.

the combined pill (most pills are combined) will work fine, the progesterone only pill will not work well in women over 70kg. I am 97kg and I have been taking the combined pill for almost 8 years

There are other options...I use the the fertility awareness method, which i love. I also have friends who've used the ring, the patch, the shot...may be more effective than the pill, but still have the side effects.

They work fine. There is one type of pill that is slightly less effective, but most are fine in overweight women. She needs to see another doctor.
