 They are only as important as you make them. They probably get more attention and opportunities to have sex, that is true. One of the problems with the scenario is that it is not normal. Nobody is supposed to get as much attention and money as celebrities do. Many of them over dose on it and when it stops coming, they crash. As soon as they don't get any more offers for movies or when heads stop turning when they enter a room, they don't feel important anymore. Many of them also start to believe they are really special and deserve special treatment. They develop a sense of entitlement and expect things like the best seats in a restaurant and all kinds of crazy things. It can be a hollow existence.

reader, anonymous, writes (14 October 2007): Are celebs not human? We all have exactly the same and of course we all do exactly the same when it comes down to bedroom antics.
Celebs just like the world to believe that they have everything better than the 'normal' people in the world - fact is most of them are unhappier than us - they end up destroying themselves with drink, drugs and broken hearts. Sounds just like a life I wouldnt want! x

It helps maintain their status as 'celebrities'.The reality is that they're no different to anyone else, except that they have to choose partners very carefully, ever mindful of the 'kiss and tell' brigade!Phil
