Is this supervisor giving me the run-around? What should I do?

A female United States age 30-35, *oeismeanyou writes:

Recently I applied to work for a well known and respected organisation =(Z).

Then a bit after they called me in for an interview and then they informed me that I had secured the job, and to come in later on in the week to sign the pre-employment papers two Thursdays ago.

After I signed the papers, the supervisor told me to come in on Saturday, but never told me what time (I forgot to ask).

During that following week, I attempted to contact her but I never heard back. So I went in early in the morning just for her to say "she forgot" she told me that, and made me feel stupid.

So I spoke to her supervisor (because she told me to) and she told me to come in on Monday at 10:30.

I currently have a full time job (which I won't have in May) and I ended up taking the day off so I could go in and sign the papers at the (Z) and wouldn't have to worry about traffic.

Before I was about to head there, the supervisor (the lady who hired me) told me my background check hadn't come in yet and that she'll call me once it does and it should be in later that day.

So I didn't go in to my current job just in case she did call me. But, she never called, not even to tell me it hadn't come in.

On Tuesday, she finally called me saying it finally came in and if I could come in on Wednesday (yesterday) if I could come in at 10 to do the paper work.

I told her I couldn't because I already took enough time off at my current job just to deal with their stuff and I couldn't take more time off.

I currently nanny and don't have any vacation or sick days, so if I take off, I don't get paid for that day, and I have bills to pay and am trying to move.

Then she told me that she'll talk to her supervisor about it and I never heard back from her.

What should I do?

Is she giving me the run around? Is it worth to keep dealing with it? If feels as though I'm wasting my time for a part-time job that only pays 7.75.

malvern agony auntThey may be a well known organisation but they appear to be very disorganised and treat people with a lack of respect. If you hear from them again and they give you a definite time and date then you have to decide whether you want to bother with them again. Otherwise I think I would just forget them. Having experienced the way they've treated you I'd tread carefully anyway because they don't seem like very good employers.
