I am 16 years old single, do not care for relationships have 1 best friend of 4 years and a few people i would call real friends. i like gaming because it takes my mind of reality and i like being by myself,i am very individual and particular about how i do things. in general i am a hard worker and do my best to complete coursework at college but i just feel like what is the point. i have not considered suicide or thought about dying but i do feel like the only reason i am here is because i am curious as to how the rest of my life will be.i just want to know, is this depression or just part of being a teen and not quite feeling part of society yet?i have not made this anonymous so that if anyone wants to know more information about me they can send me a message :)

you might have some depression. being depressed does not always mean being suicidal.
if you isolate (you do)
if you have no joy in life at all
if you don't have drive
these are all signs of low grade depression.
this is a fairly easy thing to fix.
it's a two fold fix
1. you see the GP and ask about some anti-depressants
2. you find a qualified therapist who is used to working with teens and talk through the feelings of numbness you describe. there is also the concept of group therapy where you would find out just how normal you really are.

Some times it may be a passing phase, even though it is a depression, if it's caused by external circumstances which then change.
other times it does not go away by itself and you need to dig deeper and try to figure out what's causing you to feel this way and then make some changes in your life.
it sounds like you're kind of isolated socially, this can cause depression in many people. Try to make new friends, they don't all have to be best friends but just try to make more social contact on various levels, you may find it helps lift your spirits a lot.

If you're sticking around to see the future ahead, that's just proof that hope has certainly not been lost. Six months may seem like a very long time to feel so down, but no matter how dark the night, the sun will always rise. You'll get through it, I promise you.
