Hi there,

Are you being "intimate" If you cup your ex g/f face in yr hand when saying goodnite and giving her a kiss on the cheek and a hug?

chigirl agony auntI agree that the cupping of the face is by far more intimate. Often people consider it highly intimate when they allow their face to be touched. Usually this is donw only between people who love each other.

You might have sent her the wrong message!

DenimandLace44 agony auntOddly enough the more I think about it, the kiss on the cheek, and hug aren't so much, but cupping the face is. ;)

Hi,

She was comfy with it as she kissed me back (3-4 times more than I did)...she did start to get a bit upset that we had to go.

I am having a break from relationships at the moment.

DenimandLace44 agony auntIn the situation you describe, I wouldnt say it was intimate. A casual hug and kiss on the cheek. If you have a current gf, she may feel different though. :)

A female reader, chigirl Norway +, writes (30 September 2010):

chigirl agony auntYes. Intimate is anything that you don't really do with someone unless they are close to you. Intimacy if often private and between a small number of people. Sharing secrets is something intimate, and hugging and kissing is also intimate. Sitting close together can be intimate. But intimate can be so much, so if you are unsure about the definitions, ask your girlfriend what she considers intimate. It is best to have a common understanding of concepts.
