A male reader, Hugh.J United Kingdom +, writes (17 May 2011):

Hugh.J agony auntThere is a pill that can be ingested sublingually - Uprima - which works by activating certain chemicals in the brain. Uprima tablets, taken orally, dissolve under the tongue and trigger the release of dopamine, one of the chemicals in the brain responsible for achieving and maintaining an erection.

Uprima increases the levels of nitric oxide in the body that dilates blood vessels and increases blood flow to the penis. It also aids in the transmission of the signals from the brain via the spinal cord which also aids blood flow to the penis, helping to achieve an erection.

NEVER take it without consulting a doctor, though, as there are contra-indications, especially if there is impaired kidney function.

The Realist agony auntThere has to be something out there. I know there would be a shot but I don't see that being better then taking a pill. You should talk to your doctor as you can do so without him then see what he says about his options because he will most likely have to get the prescription.

It does concern me that he won't take a pill though for you but this is also coming from someone who also hates taking pills with a passion. I hope you find something that he is willing to do.
