Just a quick thought....Is it me or do any of you other agony aunts compelled to believe that the word love is loosely used a lot. I mean who knows the actual meaning but to say you are in love with someone who you have know for a matter of months is not realistic in my eyes. I'm just thinking that you don't know how much you care for someone unless you have been through adversity and shared special moments in time, not just a quick rump in the sack or a cocktail. Am I a the only one who feels this way because if so I will stand out on this limb by myself. Any thoughts.....

I believe you can have the beginning stages of love after a few months. There is no set time period. But, I believe you do not really know what love is until you are older. Thats why all these young teenagers just throw that word around. Love is something very special that should not be taken lightly. If you say those three words all the time to just anybody, it will never be a special thing.

theskycastle agony auntI thought I will put my two cents thought about this "love" question. Did you know the phrase "I Love You" is rarely use in a lot of asian culture? You don't say I love you even to your wife. The only place you see "I Love You" is in poetry and lyric of a song.

In my opinion, it doesn't matter if you say or you hear others say I love you. The only thing that matters is to feel you love someone or you're being love by someone. Love is a emotion, a feeling, and shouldn't be mixed with "like". Love requires time and experience together, while like can be a sudden thing. Ex. I like this shirt vs. I LOVE this shirt.

So Yes, people do mix up using them. Recently, I came to a realization about the difference between Love and Like. Love is something you cannot explain why you love it. Like is something you can explain. Ex. If you love a person, you cannot pin point why you're so deeply in love with him. But if you like a person, you can say it's because he gave you flowers, he offer to open the door for you, etc. What do you think?
