I had a crap new year. I didn't want to be at home with my parents (I'm 18) but I wanted to go to a party. There was one party that I heard of but it was invite only. I went to a friends house (just 3 of us) and it was depressing. I left and spent about 2 hours crying because this was what my life had come to even though I had a texts from random people I've never met and things on internet saying to love yourself and enjoy what you have. Is something wrong with me as this made it worse for me.

Hello I know exactly how you feel I am 17 and have had an awful new years and also cried alot!I think there is alot to be depressed about when it comes to a new year but i suppose we have to think of it as a fresh start and try to change the way we feel now by a new aproach to the coming year.

Don't feel you are the only one. I spent it in bed with the tail end of a horrible migraine which grounded me for 4 days, coupled with intense stomach pains! New Year is no big deal! You are only 18 and you will have better times ahead, but don't dwell on it. Get on with making this year happy and healthy. Christmas and New Year are such nostalgic and sentimental times and we all feel like both occasions should be something special and when that doesn't turn out like that then we feel depressed, upset and wrecked. I have had some really crap ones too, i bet a lot of people out there are the same. Just think of the lovely warm summer days coming!

Take care and Happy New Year.

xx

Hi,

Don't worry, my new years was also quiet, but like rhythmandblues said, new years is very overated, and people put pressure on themselves and their family to either make huge overrated parties, or do some crazy things.

I personally enjoy a quiet night in with some family and friends at home as it too, is much safer as on that night people are drunk and think they can drive, however it doesn't mean that I wouldn't go out somewhere.

You are young, try this for this year do something at your place with some family and family friends, have snacks, music, some fun things to do together, and you'll have a blast, and think of all the things that you can do this year to make you the happiest and best person you can be.

Best wishes, Martin.

I think New Years is highly overrated, there is so much pressure that people put on themselves to have the best night of their lives or something, really it so silly to do that to yourself, it is just another day in the calendar year and I personally never have that much going out on New Years waiting for the clock to turn to midnight so I can get a smooch seems really dumb to me....and I have had many more New Years than you have.

You have nothing to be crying over, you are 18 for God's sake and have your WHOLE life ahead of you and many many more New Year's eves ahead...so don't stress, get over it doesn't mean anything about what your life has come too, your life has barely begun, trust me!

Just try to be grateful for everything you do have, sit down and make a gratitude list and tell people in your life that are important to you how much you think of them and just see the smiles on their faces, start this tomorrow for a better year....

Everyone has their bad times. My new year isn't exactly rosy. I don't think I've been without alcohol in my system for a week I've been so torn up over my personal life. I know I'll get through it though, and so will you. I'm 18, too, by the way.
