A female reader, Frenzotic United Kingdom +, writes (12 December 2009):

Frenzotic agony auntNo your relationship isn't doomed to fail. Communication by all means is a good thing but you just both need to put the phone down a little bit more and make time and put effort into connecting that level of communication in face-to-face conversation.

When you're with your other half, sometimes you don't need to talk at all. I could happily watch telly, watch my other half play his games and hardly have to say anything.

Communication is very important in a relationship and if you cannot talk face to face with your bf or gf.. then yes.. I do believe that the relationship is doomed!
