writes:Situation: my boyfriend and I came close to having sex. We weren't sure if any of his semen got near me, so I took the day after pill just to be safe. Problem is that I took this pill on friday (friday was three days before my period) so, come monday (monday is approximately the day I was supposed to get my period) I didn't. I have a perfect cycle: my period comes ever 28 days. It never fails. My period was supposed to be here on monday, and it's almost thursday and I haven't gotten it. Is there a possibility that taking the pill three days before getting my period could have delayed my period or something like that? help anybody?

reader, anonymous, writes (22 October 2008): i was in a similar situation and i took the pill right away. my period is pretty irregular, im always a few days late, but from what i was told the pill can delay your period by up to a week. and the stress of worrying about it made mine later. my advice, dont stress, get a pregnancy test to be sure, and everything will hopefully be alright.

 You haven't said how soon after the incident you took the Levonelle? If it was within 3 days, you shouldn't need to worry. But apart from the cost, a pregnancy test wouldn't do any harm now to put your mind at rest.
