I'm guessing that that is a icebreaker. And another time he told he he was infatuated with my smile. And when I went in yesterday he was making drinks but he couldn't keep his eyes off of me the whole time I was there. My mom was with me that last time and she was the one who told me he was staring at me.

My local Starbucks hired a man that could have been a model.
He laid on the charm, but I wasn't buying into it.
I'm too old and too wise.
This sounds sexist, but I enjoyed the scenery and the good coffee.
I'd go back again--this being Starbucks marketing plan. ha ha

Baristas are usually pretty social and chatty - it's their job to make buying coffee an "experience" for people.
I'd have male (and a couple of female) baristas not only remember my name but my preferred drink when walking it (oops maybe too many visits to Starbucks?) and never once did I think it was because they were keen on me. BUT then again I'm not a spring chicken.
The whole issue though can be answered fairly simply - WHAT are you interested in? Getting to know him? Or just continue to get a little coffee and flirt on?

Id say he's flirting. I mean to be staring at you when you come in and he is not even serving you yet suggest he is. It might be a bit unprofessional for him to do anything more so are you going to ask him out? Maybe for a Hudsons LOL

Well, we know he has noticed your nails, your smile and likes to look at you. It could be something like, he wants to be sure you tip him, or he's a natural flirt, or he just likes being personable and kind to everyone who comes in.
I think the only way to find out if he's flirting with you is to flirt back! Why not? Do you think he's attractive? Then go for it!
I like my local Starbucks too, there's a really nice barista who is also a yoga instructor and she always has a kind word for me, and I appreciate that! I don't take it as flirting though, she's just being nice.

Not sure if he's flirting or just going for a nice tip.
the staring means he likes how you look...
so now what are you going to do about it?
