He only started the job last month and said to me this evening that he will give me £200 a month. The thing is, he actually still lives with his parents even though hes in his 30s and has no outgoings or debts. I, on the other hand, am really struggling financially. I know there is an online calculator I can use but I dont know how much he earns a month. How can I tell him that I want what our son is entitled to? I dont want to have to go down the legal route as i dont want to cause upset between us, as we have finally gotten into a good routine of looking after our son (he has him every other weekend).Any suggestions would be appreciated

make discreet inquiries with the www.csa.gov.uk as this will not cost you legal fees and they would be experienced at advising you in situations where he has recently started self employment.
He may already be paying a reasonable anount or he may not. You are correct in that his outgoings may be small, but starting a business may also be putting him under financial strain.
I hope it works out well for you.
