I been drinking Moutain Dew ever since it came out in production. I do want to be a father someday and I want to know if my over obsessive consumption of Mountain Dew will have an effect on that. Sometimes I drink about 4 to 5 cans a week, when I'm in the mood I drink up to 7 cans a day. I do drink alot of water though when I drink alot of Mountain Dew or any other soda. If my sperm count is low for that reason or any other reason, what can I do to make it higher? I'm too young I believe to start thinking whether I want to be a father or not, but I want to be ready in case I ever do, like at the age of 30 or a little older.

Perhaps it is best to review your whole diet and eat foods that are particularly 'valuable' to the body in terms of vitamins, minerals, healthy fats and proteins. Also assess your exercise levels. Do not be paranoid about specific foods you have already eaten for years but simply avoid anything that concerns you from this point onwards. Perhaps you can turn your concern into real positivity and make this the catalyst for a new healthier approach to food, drink and exercise?!

Yellow #5 does *not* lower your sperm count. There has been no studies that prove that it does. It has been a myth that continues to keep going on without proof.. Much like the second gunman on the grassy knoll.
If you want to believe that.. here are some other foods that contain yellow 5 and probably more than Mountain Dew does.
Airhead Fruit Snacks
Act II Double Cheese Popcorn
Frozen dinners
Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream
and many many more.
Goto foodfacts.com and search under ingredients.

But bottom line is.. watch what you eat anyways, :)

mountain do actually does lower your sperm count... well the yellow#5 in it does.... but anyways.. zinc generally will raise your sperm count.. you should cut back on the consumption of sugars (MOUNTAIN DEW), and greasy fatty foods, and that would also help a bit.
other than that you may want to seek advise from a fertility doctor, they can check your sperm count for you and tell you how to raise it more accurately than anyone on this site could (unless theres some fertility doctors on here, and in that case, they will give you further advice)
good luck to you

As far as the Yellow #5 situation goes.. it has to do with Mountain Dew containing Yellow #5 which normally propogates the MD causing low sperm count. As far as increasing your sperm count... I don't know.. If you want to become a father, find a very fertile mate. But beyond that, You may want to start cutting back on Mountain Dew and other junk foods and eat more fruits and healthy foods and drinks.

crazydirtyred is verified as being by the original poster of the questionUmm.. Thanks, but... what? Well at least I'm starting to believe it's a myth but I don't get the yellow #5 situation or the Coitus interruptus O_O So basically there is no scientific proof that MD kills the sperm count? Ok, but what about to make it a little higher if I do have a low sperm count?

This goes back to the myth of Yellow #5, which is highly most likely FALSE. Although with all the additives and chemicals in our food, I'm not too sure if we are safe from any adverse side effects. BUT I'd say drink away and not worry so much. IF you have a low sperm count, you have more than just consuming Mountain Dew or Yellow #5 to blame for that.

Mountain Dew doesn't kill sperm. It's high sugar may keep you up and running for a while, but it doesn't have to do nothing with sperm, or testicles shrinking.
This is a myth. This began by teenage boys telling their girlfriends as an excuse to not use a condom, and attempt the withdrawal method- scientifically known as Coitus interruptus.
