writes: I love to sing. I love to make music, compose songs and create lyrics. I'm talented in it. But most of all, what I really want to do, is to help people. I've been through a lot, maybe not enough, but I still am able to empathise with people. I'm not sure if going towards the music industry will help though.I hadn't had a good past. My education is screwed up due to depression. But that's in the past and it's over, so I can't do anything about it. I can't go back to the past and I can't rewrite things as much as I'd love to. I need to know what I can do now with what little that I have. And now, I only have my voice and my words. What can I do with them?I've always had a dream of being a singer. Now, I'd like to have a band. I want to be able to create different albums of different songs. Different projects for the self-satisfaction of relieving my ideas. But I can't do it without the help of people. People of which I'm lacking of.And then, I worry about what if I actually become well-known? I don't want to end up like those celebrities with stupid paparazzi swarming around their lives like killer bees. But then I also know that I need to sacrifice something in order to gain another. Then I start to wonder-- is it worth it? Is it worth trying to get into the music industry just to help people? Will I be able to do so?Even when I think about becoming a singer and all-- how am I going to do it? I don't know a way, and I don't know enough people. I've tried finding my own path but it just led me to the wrong road. I've wasted my parents' money attending a school that I barely research enough on. It was only after attending it did I realise that they're just a bunch of money stealers teaching me things that I already know.I know that I'm smart, and clever. I'm witty but also kind.In my life, all I've wanted is to help people and cheer them up. And I did. Despite the fact that my life is so screwed up, which I constantly assure myself that is good in its way because I get to understand things that average people don't. I know how to empathise and I know how to be understanding. But now I'm stuck, not knowing where to go or what to do.What should I do?I apologise for the long post. Thanks in advance for any responses.

There are lots of ways to help the world with your music but not getting into the celeb music scene. If you really enjoy music, go out with a guitar and sing open mic nights, sing for causes, do benefits, get people active in your community using music as your medium.
Career options? You could write lyrics for songwriters - you know that Christina Aguilera doesn't write her own tunes. You could be a vocal instructor. You could work in the music industry - but you don't need to be in the spotlight (paparazzi, the fame, the craziness) to make changes. You can work from behind the scenes, making differences in different ways. Or, do you own thing in your own city, get started there and move on up. Get involved in musical theater. I thought that the idea of Music therapy was a really great idea... try that!
Music is a great field because it brings so much joy and power to others, and you have lots and lots of options.

But that doesn't mean you shouldn't make music. If you like to sing, and fans like to listen, what else matters? Don't worry about "making it big", just take it one day at a time.

I'm not sure that you could help anyone in the music industry. But you could donate some time to maybe a school, hospital or even a home for the ederly.
As to how you get in the industry, how about writing to record companys, maybe they might have a vacancy of some sort. Or you could put an advert in the paper, to see if anyone wants to join up with your band. It will tajke a lot of knock backs, but if your that good dont give up and you will get there in the end.
Good luck.

Otherwhise become a social worker, or do something worthwhile concerning helping young people get over their issues, especially young girls. There are already loads of singers singing about their bad times and giving new hope, such as MjBlige but if your really as talented at singer as Delta Goodrem then i think you should send a tape to a recording studio!
