writes: Last week I woke up with my period and vaginal thrush. Yuck! I had no symptoms other than a soreness in my vagina. No itch, no discharge, no pain. I went to the chemist and got canesten oral duo. I took the tablet and applied the cream and the infection went away. However, it returned last night. Again, the only symptom I have is burning in my vagina. I am not sexually active. I cant get to a doctor for a while so I was wondering if it would be safe to take the tablet again? Thanks in advance.

hi
all women, at some time or the other, do experience what you are going thru presently. Mostly it goes away with a one time medication. But it can also become a recurring problem. You need to visit the gynec, self medication might not be the best thing to do here, since the discomfort is back despite the medicine you used.
Apart from this, i suggest you introduce probiotics in your diet, if you're not already eating yogurt. Regular consumption of yogurt prevents any yeast related vaginal infections. a daily portion is very helpful. If you don't prefer yogurt, sachets or tablets of probiotics (lacto bacillus, etc) are also available.
Try it, extremely helpful. I make sure i get my daily dose of yogurt to keep yeast infections at bay.
