I've heard that you can skip the 7days of taking no pills but instead just start a new pack and start taking them again straight away which makes you skip your period. Is this safe and does it have any side effects? Thanks!

I have done this before when I went away on holiday and I had no major side effects! I think basically it is safe but only if you do this once, dont make a regualr habit of it!
Your next period will be a lot heavier and you will get worse PMS the next time because you skipped a period but aside from this there wont be any major side effects. Plenty of women do this and it does no harm, but make sure you have a period next time and dont skip another period!
I hope this helps!

The pill is prescribed to be taken in a certain way, if you change the way it is meant to be taken you are messing around with your hormones, so yes you may miss a period but you may also get a heavier period than normal, mood swings, headaches and all the other hormone related stuff you girls have to put up with.
I wouldn't advise changing the way you take your pill without speaking to your doctor or nurse practitioner first.
