Yes. Make sure the tattooist has an autoclave and ask him to talk about his sterilizing procedures on his equipment. If he refuses to, no sale!

Currently, 9 medical clinics in Neveda (USA) are being charged with using needles over and over again on various people. So far 16 people have contracted hepititus(?) and other diseases because of this and our authorities think/know this tally will rise dramatically. If a board certified medical clinic re-uses needled to save money, what's stopping a tattoo parlor owner from doing the same?
I recall Kimberly Bersalis ..... a 17 y/o virgin who died from AIDS some 20 years ago. Her dentist intentionally infected her amongst others, so always be careful.

unless he gets it done on the side of a road - no! once the tattoo artist is very professional, hygenic, and uses the right utensils - it is fine. they never use the same needle twice so the risk is non existent. just research the place he goes to so that you know how good it is, and you can put your mind at ease.

As long as your boyfriend goes to a professional tattoo parlor every utensil is completely sterilized, and some places actually replace the needles every time. Dont worry about a thing those people are pros they actually go to college for this type of thing and the state health dept. inspects each and every parlor.

It's extemely unlikely as long as he goes to a place that practices immaculate hygiene protocols. That means absolutely no reuse of the needles, using gloves, sterilizing other equipment.
Sounds like you don't think he should get one, though.

As long as he goes to a reputable establishment. I see no need for concern. I'm not sure what the regulations are in your country, but just make sure you research the the shop, artist, sanitation requirements, any licensing regulations, etc. before deciding on a place. hope this helps.-Jmo
