writes:is it possible to be pregnant if the second line is very very faint? i took a home pregnancy test and at first i thought it was negative but there is a VERY lightly colored blue line in the results window.i even thought maybe i was seeing things or something,its so light.the test is the kind where it has one window with a line to show it is working,and the other window is supposed to have a line if pregnant,and no line if not.it is a store brand pregnancy test,not a name brand.could this be becuz i opted for the cheapest test or could it be a positive result even though it is hard to see?

reader, anonymous, writes (27 May 2008): YES you are pregnant we have three children and when I was pregnant with the girls the line was very very light. But sure enough I was pregnant. The more HCG detected the darker the line. :-) GOOD LUCK!!

reader, anonymous, writes (27 May 2008): I know you didn't use a name brand, as you stated, but Clear Blue pregnancy tests say that even the faintest of lines means you are pregnant. But to be honest, just to double check, it's best to go get a name brand that you can definitely trust.

 Congrats, you are pregnant. The test picks up on a hormone that occurs in your body ONLY when you are pregnant. I have 2 kids, both, VERY faint pink lines. My honey didnt believe it because the line was so faint, so I went and bought the test that would spell out "pregnant" for him. It did. Dosnt matter what kind of test it is. CONGRATS!!!

usually even been the lines are faint the result is still a positive. when i took my first pregnancy test, i took a "life" brand test, it stated that if the results were positive (pregnant) then a plus would come up in the window and if it were negative and minus sign would appear. the first test i took clearly showed the negative with a very light, smaller blue line coming right down through it. i was so confused but the only way i found out was to buy another test, i would go for clearblue, they are very accurate and it comes with 2 tests. also you should take the pregnancy test right in the morning when you wake up with your very first bathroom visit because it is at that point that your body releases the most amount of hormones. if you took the test later on in the day after hydrating yourself the results may be confusing... but there is only one way to find out though, is to buy another test. and this time try to buy a brand name test (around 30$), in a time like this you deserve to invest a little bit for the sake of your own body.

 ok usually if it was me say for instance ide wait atleast 3 - 4 weeks before considering a test. and follow the instructions. now as for the faint line it could be a faulty one, or have you considered you ddnt pee enough to give a full test? if i were u go to gp or buy another one to put ure mind at rest as it could be a mystery as why this has happened.. thats my opinion hope that helps aphexy

All preganancy tests are about as effective as each other so dont worry about buying an expensive one.
Occasionally tests dont give a clear answer.
What you must do is, do another test, maybe even two to make sure.
Its best you take the test in the morning as urine is more concentrated and the results will be more reliable.
