Panda is 35 years old, has a wife and 3 children. Seven days ago Panda was riding his motorcycle with a couple of guys. Panda was doing 80km around a corner and "wiped out". Panda's motorcycle was completely destroyed and Panda was rushed to the emergency. Panda has been in the hospital ever since. Panda's knee was swollen and his ribs was causing him terrible pain. For the first 5 days Panda was in great pain but it was thought he would recover just fine. This morning my Husband got a call from Panda's wife saying that Panda has 5 broken ribs and blood clots in his lungs. The doctors told Panda's wife beforehand that his ribs were NOT broken. Panda has a hard time breathing now (where he didn't before...) and is using an air mask to help him breathe. My husband was devastated to hear this and wanted to know if he could die from this. I couldn't answer him and so here I am asking you guys. Is it possible for Panda to die from blood clots in his lungs with 5 broken ribs? Reply to this Question Share |

"Panda" is happy, fine, and completely healed. He still rides on his motorcycles though.
Thank you for replying and I'm sorry for the late update.

Blood clots in his lungs: Yes, that's pretty serious. He needs to not move around much at all. I had a friend in high school die from a blood clot in her lung that no one knew about after a car accident.
Broken Ribs: People get broken ribs all the time and survive. They could make a lung collapse, but even that's treatable with surgery.
