 Am ex is an EX for a reason. The relationship obviously didn't work out for whatever reasons. He got back in contact with you again which is great but my guess is that he stopped again because he needs more time or else he is just not interested in keeping the contact up, maybe he just wanted to see if you where OK and now that he did he has left it at that. Instead of asking him what you have done wrong maybe ask him does he want a friendship with you or what it is that he wants. If you are over him and can handle being only friends well then go ahead and ask him.
