Is it OK for a 17 year old girl to have a 14 year old boyfriend?

A female Canada age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I'm a 17 year old girl and I have a huge crush on an absolutely super cutie living next door to me that I've been friends with for years. The only problem is he's going to be 14 in two weeks. I'm not going to have sex with him, but I would love to have him as my boyfriend and just talk, hold hands, kiss and cuddle. I've had a few boyfriends so far and they were all older than me and they all turned out to be jerks, so would it be OK if I date a cute younger sweetheart boy instead?

tennisstar88 agony auntYou could date him, just no sex or any sexual acts because he's still a minor. People at school, friends may razz you for dating a younger guy..or they may be supportive. But do remember girls mature faster than boys, so at 14 he might not be up to your level. Ask him out, see how it goes..Couldn't hurt to try.
