Offcourse it all is pretty silly, but that is society for you.
It might be that you feel you shouldn't be doing this. Well, 50% of women masturbate and 50% lie about it, so you are in good company, but that doesn't help if you still think you are alone in doing it.
Get rid of those thoughts, what you do with yourselve is nobodies business but your own and in many ways it is one of the safest recreations possible, it doesn't give you cancer like smoking, doesn't ruin your liver like drinking, doesn't give you aids like sleeping around.
On a more personall level, masturbation might make you feel more lonely, I heard of this from women as women seem more inclined to want to be close to someone else when intimate.
Oh and remember, sex is only dirty if you are doing it right.

You just become more comfortable with your sexuality and with your body. In fact, it will become so common and ordinary that you and your friends will joke about it like its no big deal.

If you feel guilty or dirty , it is because of some religious or cultural thing you assimilated while you were growing up.
Some people picked up those knowledge from the gutters and don't know what is right or wrong.

Hey sweetness,
Well, I'm sure you're not alone in feeling dirty. I'm sure tons of women share your sentiments, but as DoubleM points out, masturbation is totally healthy and normal. If you feel dirty, it should be a really GOOD kind of dirty.
Enjoy exploring yourself! Have fun!

P.S. Make sure your hands are always clean.
P.P.S. Hey, don't knock the vibrator until you've felt those awesomely good vibrations. Pick one up sometime to REALLY knock your socks off!

It is probably natural for many American girls to feel "dirty" or somehow unnatural to explore yourself in this way, but the accepted opinion of most medical and psychological professionals today is that self-exploration is both healthy and useful for your sex life. It aids you in learning your personal and particular "hot spots" and may even help you achieve orgasm at times.
This knowledge may be used to your benefit sexually in the future, if you will share what pleasures you most with the man (or men) in your life. There is nothing wrong with telling your lover how to please you, and in my opinion, there is no wrong to explore your sexuality to discover at least some of it via masturbation.
It is much safer in all respects to an active sex life, in terms of disease or unintended pregnancy these days, and you should release and enjoy it as you may. The same applies to men - you will not go blind, become retarded or any of that bullsh*t. But eventually, the best is yet to come.
