 Yup. Normal. As to how much is supposed to "stay in her", the answer is none. Her vagina isn't a sponge! lol
What happens is that the acidity of her vagina changes the consistancy of your semen, making it more watery (helps the sperm cells, presumably), and that's why it seems to rush out when you withdraw.
If the mess bothers you, use a condom and keep the tissues handy.

Don't worry yourself at all about this!
