If you don't know why he stops you, ask him. He might be self-conscious he might be worried about the mess, he might be worried about the noise. It's hard to say. Talk to him about it!
It may take him a while to be ready for that, that's perfectly normal.
A tissue would work, but other, more creative methods of cleanup are more fun, if you're up for it! ;-)
