Is it illegal to email a teacher outside of school in the uk?

i am currently being taught by him, i am female, he is male, i am 17 and he is in his 30s, it is his personal email address and the emails are informal and of a personal nature, however they are NOT sexual or romantic.

i am not sure if he has told his wife. i have not told anyone as i think he may get into trouble?

thanks

I email my teacher but it's purely teacher/student.He gave us his email to send him our homeworks but he told us that we could always mail him if we have some difficulties with the homework or any other problem.I think it's not innapropriate to email him as long the mails are strictly about school.I know I'm late but what can I do...I found out this gr8 site few days ago.*sigh*I wish I found it earlier.

Well as long as he is just helping you through some problems then there is nothing wrong with it and falls under his duty of care.

You are just the email equivalent of that kid that hangs around outside the staff room.

Keep it clean and don't worry about his wife, she doesn't need to know the details of all the kids her husband deals with.

Good Luck!! xx

Midge agony auntI dont think there is anything wrong with emailing someone who is your teacher, so long as it is not of a sexual or romantic nature.

Even if it is informal, that is fine so long as bounderies are not crossed and the relationship become more than just a teacher/pupil relationship. If those bounderies are crossed, that is when it needs to stop.

I would not advertise that you are emailing each other, because some people may get the wrong idea even if it is an innocent relationship. Keep it to yourself, but keep it clean and within bounderies of "teaching"!
