writes: (sorry this is going to be long) Hi everyone, I have a question...[but heres the story first] last Friday September the 26th, I decided to skip school. I am currenlty in the 8th grade and im 14 turing 15 in March. Ok now the reason why I skipped school was because my best friend was going to skip school so she asked me to come. We both have never skipped school before so it was something new to us. We were going to stay over these two guys houes who were both 16. One who is a high school drop out and the other who is still in high school and in the 10th grade. So that same day I woke up early and walked to the school bus stop, but not the one that is by my house the one before my house. So it was about a 10-15 minute walk; not that long. Anyways while I was at the bus stop, someone got dropped of by their older sibling. So I take a look at the driver of the car who drove the kid to the bus stop, and the first thing I say to myslef is "man is he hot". So I wait until the guy that drove his younger sibling to leave so I could say something. So I tell the kid that got out the car: who was the person that drove you? He said, my brother why? I replied nothing just wanted to know becuase he's really really really hot. And the kid starts to laugh and so do I. And before I left the bus stop to go over the guys house we were going to stay at for the rest of the day becuase I was skippng school, I told the kid to tell his brother I said he was really really really really really REALLY hot. So he said ok although I didnt think he was going to tell his brother. [the guy looked like he was in his 20's or something] So now its monday September the 29th and im going on the bus. And the kid I told to tell his brother I said was REALLY hot ACTUALLY TOLD HIM. So he goes "hey I told my brother what you said" he said you can call him but you can't be younger than 15. And im not 15 im 14! So I said yeah im 15. So he calls his brother and says "yeah she's 15" so he gave me his brothers number so I could call. So I texted him. And he really seemed to be into me and all. He's 17 and he's a senior! And im 14 in the 8th grade. Hes turing 18 on March 7 and im turing 15 on March 6 (its not that much of an age diffrence though). Now the question is........ is it illegal or legal for an 18 yearold to have a 15 yearold girlfriend?

reader, anonymous, writes (2 October 2008): Well, you can date anyone you like, and it's not illegal, so long as you don't have sex. If you're planning on having sex (or other physically intimate relations) with him, your ages could be a problem. The largest allowable age difference I've heard of anywhere in the States is 3 years. From what you tell us, your age difference is 3 years and 1 day...just outside the limit. Too bad.

reader, anonymous, writes (2 October 2008): yes it is illegal its very illegal even if he was 15 or 16 your not old enough by law. some places legal age is 16 but the guy can not be more then 2 years older and in other places it's 17 all depends on where you live. theres two reason's i know this one my ex bf was a cop where i live and the other is cause when i was 15 i lost my virginity to my bf who was 17 1/2 and my mom found out called the cops and even though i consented he had to do 3 years for sat.* rape because in just because i didnt wait 2 months for me to turn 16 i was so mad. and also sweetie your 14 so yea of course it is. i mean yea theres girls i know that had babys at 14 15 or whatever but there parents didnt care or didnt do anything about the guy probably cause they wanted there babys to have a daddy and they didnt want there life to be even harder i dunno but it really all depends on if you want to take that chance to see how your parents feel on the situation when and if they find out. and if they did find out and didnt like it how would you feel if he got locked up cause you lied for one and for two you couldnt wait!
