Is it bad to get my hopes up that this boy likes me, as my friends like to think?

A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

All the time I'm talking with my friend about the smallest interactions i have with the boy that i like. They always joke around and stuff with me. Sometimes they say "oh he likes u" and stuff like that, and I just blow it off like 'yea right' and now i'm just a little, starting to believe them. Is it bad to get my hopes up that what my friends are telling me is true? He barely shows any signs of anything. We met each other's gaze a couple of times, but nothing ever past 3 seconds. when i tell my friends that, that's when they say he likes me. I just wanna know if I should or shouldn't get my hopes up?

Thanks :)

what i say may not be what you thought you would hear, but just think about what im going to say for a second. when a guy does something, like asks if he can borrow your pen, you think nothing of it right? just a guy who forgot his pen. but when a friend tells you this guy really likes you and he wants to ask you out, etc, and then he asks you if he can borrow your pen, you might think things like, "he could have asked anyone in the class but he asked me, maybe he likes me? maybe my friend is right?" do you understand what i mean? so im not saying this guy isnt interested, he may well be, but unfortunately we cant read people's minds, so just be careful not to read too much into things, because subconciously it could just be the fact that your friend has been telling you he likes you that you almost imagine things to be something they're not. you dont want to get your hopes up, but at the same time, you never know, he may genuinly like you. my advice is to play it by ear . . just carry on as normal and see where things go, in time he might say something or give some sort of impression that he definitly does like you or is interested. dont get your hopes up, but dont completely dismiss the idea. you never know ...

aaj =)

i will write back if you need any more advice n this or anything else so feel free to email me or comment back :D

Hey, i am sorry but this guy at the moment doesnt seem that interested. you need to be friends with a guy and talk to them and there friends and get to know them alot before you go any further. At the moment from the information that has been given he doesnt seem that into you. so just chill out and you will get the right guy.
