Is it bad that I'm still thinking about her or should I be over her by now?

Question - (11 October 2009) 1 Answers - (Newest, 11 October 2009)
A male United States age 36-40, anonymous writes:

my ex-girlfriend broke up with me about 5months ago and i find that i think about her almost everyday STILL. I occasionally have a dream or two with her in it and my mind often wanders and thinks about her, like what shes doing and if she thinks about me still too.

Is it bad that im still thinking about her or should i be over her by now? I really loved her and we loved each other, we were planning our wedding and i was saving up for a ring when we began having arguments and ended up breaking up. Today ive been thinking about her more because it would be our 1yr anniversary if we stayed together.

A reader, anonymous, writes (11 October 2009):

Hey man,

I know exactly how you feel. I do not know the circumstances surrounding your breakup, but still feeling for the girl even after almost half a year has gone by is still pretty normal. She was an important part of your life, and you can't just forget her completely.

As to the dreams thing, that still happens to me and my breakup happened over 7 months ago. But a dream is just random neurons firing off random signals in your brain. What matters is for you to get over her in your heart.

Right now it may feel that you have a big hole in your heart, but know that any girl can fill that hole, not just her, even though it may seem that way right now.

Go out and talk to other girls, get some phone numbers, have fun, and enjoy being single.
