A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

So i have had a few boyfriends in my past. And every time we broke up it was kinda sudden and not really that far into the relationship. And well my mom was talking to the mom of my ex. She had said that her son was probable intimidated me. Which i don't understand how i am coming of like that and why. Well he was a couple years older and more experienced so wasn't i suppose to be the intimidated one?

I know that i have a strong personality. I am opinionated and will tell someone if they have done me wrong. And i do have morals and i am not afraid to tell someone no i will not do that if i do not think that its right...

Well, i want to know if my intimation is a bad thing, and i want to know if you think that i am intimidating... Thank ya.

Odds agony auntGirls say guys are intimidated when, really, the guys just made an assessment of the value of the relationship compard to the chance of it working and decided it was not worth the effort. "Intimidation" in the traditional sense of "inspiring fear" is really only a factor during the initial meeting - as in, whether or not it occurs.

The personality traits you're describing sound confrontational to me. A lot of guys just don't want to put up with that (even if they deserve it). I don't think it's good or bad, I just think it's going to count against you in the dating scene. You just need to decide if you would be happier staying that way or toning it down.

Well that is the way that they put it. I do not think that i was trying to force my views on them, but i do stand strong in my values. And its not like i criticized him or judged him because he wasn't as innocent as me. Innocent as in he wasn't a virgin and i wasn't about to just jump into bed with him.

And i can see that it is very possible for me to be narrow minded about things. I will try to listen more and try and see what they are saying.

Thanks.
