"I loved him..." you said it yourself, you did, as in you no longer feel that way. 8 years, engaged for two...and just now he mentions that you are having problems? Do you agree, you mention that he said it, not you. You also say you wanted to work it out. Makes me think you already know the answer in your heart. There is no shame in walking away from something that isn't keeping you happy. In a relatonship everyone deserves to feel like they are madly in love each and everyday, if you are not getting what you want then yes it is time to go!
