Is hypothyroidism possibly responsible for my miscarriages?

I have recently suffered my second miscarriage (first at 6 wks and second at 8wks). My husband and I are naturally devastated - once was hard enough - but when it happens again you really start to feel worried and it feels like such a huge loss to us! (NB: thankfully we have a healthy 1 1/2 yr old - so he gives us hope - and so much joy everyday).

I got some blood tests done when I discovered the most recent pregancy - all the usual tests - and I got back the results just the other day. The Thyroid results are abnormal - haven't seen the DR yet, but it seems I have a slightly elevated TSH...and there is some question of subclinical hypothyroidism.

Now - I know endocrinology is pretty confusing stuff...and that a Dr is probably the best place to get advice - but I am just wondering if there are any other people out there who have thyroid conditions and who have had issues with pregnancies....

my understanding is that hypothyroisism can be linked with miscarriages, but my levels are only slightly abnormal...could this be a reason for our losses? I am wondering if the DR will say not to treat...and feel scared that I will miscarry again in that case!

Anyone got any experience in this area??
