My problem is that I have been sleeping with this boy for about a year, but every time I ask him out he lies to me.

He also has dated many of my friends behind my back. Is he worth all this trouble?

A female reader, Bev Conolly Australia +, writes (23 March 2005):

Bev Conolly agony auntI think you know the answer to this one already...

No, of course he's not. You're shortchanging yourself by giving him what amounts to free sex.

You're getting nothing in return. Not his affection, nor his loyalty. He doesn't appear to be particularly nice to you. You say he even tells you lies. Geez, woman. I hope the sex is good!

So why are you spending time with this guy? He's using you, big time, and then adding insult to injury by dating other girls.

I say, if he wants a prostitute and that style of sex, let him pay for one. To use you that way is a terrible insult, and it must also be a real blow to your self-esteem.

Next time he comes around for sex, tell him no thanks, and close the door. You deserve to have a boyfriend who - at the rock-bottom least - has respect and affection for you and who cares enough to stay with you, only.

Be strong!
