i do believe he likes you alot otherwise he wouldnt keep texting you, but by the sound of things i also believe that he likes you just as a friend. Maybe that kiss you had made him realise that he didnt want to take things further and ruin a good friendship. At least he isnt taking advantage of you and you have to respect him for that.
