The best thing you can do is stop removing the hair down there for a while.

Unless you are working in porn, you don't need to be shaved smooth. Just get a good pair of scissors and trim them short. You are SUPPOSED to have some hair down there.

The only reason they shave it in porn is to make the man's penis look bigger. Unfortunately, because teenage boys see porn, that is what they think girls should look like / act. And teenage girls aren't confident enough to say UM No!

Let it grow for a bit and (carefully) exfoliate or give it a really good scrub in the shower to help them stop being in grown.

Good Luck!! xx

A female reader, Kym9 United Kingdom +, writes (16 August 2009):

Ingrown hair is the result of hair getting cut or broken below skin level and then growing into the side of the hair follicle instead of out. This results in painful red bumps that usually turn into pustules. The curlier the hair, the higher the risk. The best thing to do is remove hairs from the skins as soon as possible, you can do this with tweezers. The pointy ones can be bought at beauty salons. This way they are taken out by the root therefore sofeting the hair. Try and keep the area moisturised too. Also ask the therapist not to stretch your skin too much so the hairdoes not fall down below the skin.
