A male reader, DoubleM United States +, writes (31 January 2008):

DoubleM agony auntThe best estimate, according to reliable sources, is that a 40 percent chance of conception remains, especially if within several days of female ovulation, which is about midway through the menstrual cycle. It's quite risky without the additional precaution of a condom, and offers zero protection regarding any potential transfer of a sexually transmitted disease.

dc.ryan agony auntHello,

Like with any contraceptive method, there is *always* a chance - condoms are the most effective method available; spermicides generally have quite a moderate effectiveness during intercourse.

You could also go to your local pharmacist and purchase the morning after pill to be extra safe? Although this should generally be within 72 hours from having unprotected sex.

I wouldn't worry to greatly, but remember - spermicide doesn't protect you from sexual transmitted diseases/infections; condoms do. I'd recommend you use condoms in future.

Take it easy,

Ryan
