Infected foreskin

Question - (29 May 2009) 8 Answers - (Newest, 31 May 2009)
A male United States age 51-59, *outhernMan writes:

I've done some research on this and the results so far haven't been good. I'm 37 years old and very obese. I'm not circumcised and have been getting infected foreskin a lot lately. I'm almost positive it's not an STD. I haven't had sex with anyone for close to 13 years. I'm sure it's the fact that I'm obese and it's getting tougher to keep everything as clean as I should. I use over the counter creams and usually it clears up after 2 or 3 weeks, but it gets very painful sometimes. It's like a bad heat rash all around the foreskin. I really would like to avoid the doctor if I can. I've read circumcision at a later age is very painful. Any suggestions?

Front up to the doctor and tell him/her you don't want to be circumcised, and s/he may prescribe something better than OTC. But it does sound as though the problem stems from your obesity and not from anything directly foreskin-related. If your penis withdraws into your bodyfat when you sit down, even circumcision might not help. And you know that carrying too much weight is not good for your health in general.

I recommend sitting in a bath with your foreskin retracted. Try it twice a day in addition to fresh air.

A reader, anonymous, writes (29 May 2009):

You have two options here, either go and see your doctor for suitable treatment, or continue using the over the counter meds and risk having to be circumsized cos the infection getting so bad.

Doctors have seen a lot worse than what you are suffering from so dont feel ashamed.

It could be because its not cleaned enough maybe if u do it 3 times a day and put the cream on it may make a difference because I know when ur not circumsied at birth ur penis is much easier to get infected.....try laying with no underwear to let it get some air my mom says any rash on ur butt or anywhere that's always covered she get air to it. To feel fresh. But give it like a week try it if not docotrs is the next best thing
