You want to know the answer to your question? Unfortunately, the best surest birth control is ABSTINENCE. Nothing can beat it. It is 100% guaranteed from pregnancy and STD, no cost and no side effects. But if you find this impossible in your case, then just go to your doctor and consult him about this. For me, I use the natural method and it has been so far effective as long as your period is regular but this also gives a big chance of getting you pregnant so I use it together with condom. That way, using both assures me more that I wont get pregnant. I used pill and I gained weight and had high blood pressure.Anyway, all artificial and natural birth control methods will give you chances to get pregnant. Still, abstinence stands out. Check the websites given to you as I have visited them too before and found it very helpful. Now I can say, I know my cycle and know the ranks of this methods as to how effective they are.Goodluck.

I'm 18, on the pill and have been for 2 years. I recommend it if you are in a steady relationship with someone who you are sure has no STD's and that you trust. If you aren't in a relationship it may be an idea to stick to condoms and wait until you are in a secure place with someone to start changing your methods. When people think about birth control they are usually only considering pregnancy as a worst case scenario, but i have a 20 year old friend (who was also on the pill) who contracted clamidiya through unprotected sex (not using a condom) and she has been told that it is likely she will never be able to have children.
So far as side effects to the pill go, there is only negative i noticed- i put on about 2 pounds. I was able to work it off again, but i needed to give it an extra half hour in the gym to shed it. Aside from that i found i had clearer skin, more regular and lighter periods, and my PMT mood swings have been calmer as they were once known to be :)
The best thing to do is to see your doctor and seek their professional advice on which way to go, but even if you are protected against pregnancy, there are alot of other nasties which you have to think about avoiding!
Good Luck,

blondie60206 is verified as being by the original poster of the questionThank you all for your answers they helped i am planing on visiting with my doctor to see which is the right one for me. The thing that i have found and am kinda of nervous about a few of the methods is that weight gain is a main side affect and i have a friend that gained 45lbs from being on the pill i know every one is different but that is one of my main concerns but thanks again for all the help

I would not use the patch, I am taking Yaz and I love it, I have my periods on schedule and my skin looks better. But I would talk with your doctor about what method you want to use, if you're going to be having sex make sure you use backup even if you're on the pill.

She went off it deliberately to get pregnant three times, and was immediately (as in within one month) pregnant each time. That says to me that the pill was extremely effective over the years we used it.
Of course everyone is different, and there are lots of varieties of pills. But we certainly consider ourselves to be a success story, as we had only planned pregnancies.

That's a start for you; you really should discuss this with your gynecologist. She or he will know your individual situation and if there are any contraindications to one or more of these methods. For example, if you are a smoker, you have a higher risk of blood clots with the pill. It's all individual.
Good luck and good for you for doing your research.
