A female United Kingdom age 36-40, anonymous writes:

That's my question really, ii love matters should you listen to your heart or your gut and what do people generally listen to?

There is a guy I really like whom iv been friends with for years and we.ve been getting close and talking a lot via texting and there is a definite chemistry and attraction with us that has only sparked up even though I know him years. He also does an exercise class with me every week just the 2 of us.

But the problem is....there is a little voice telling me to leave things romance wise (and keep friendship) and im not sure why as I really like him and I know he likes me so its only a matter of time before we get closer. But when I look to the future that little voice wont go away. But im afraid to let this go...

its very annoying as iv never had this before with any other guy, I usually just go with the flow and with my heart.

So which should I listen to, my heart or my gut?

Thanks

Neither, listen to your brain. If you knew him for years before suddenly getting the hots for him, then you must have accumulated some past knowledge indicating possible red flags. That is what your little voice is telling you, so you should stop an consider the situation objectively before allowing yourself to be blinded by infatuation.
