Ok just to ask, i recently had the contraceptive implant and ive noticed a lot of reviews sayin woman have gained weight. however i seem to have the reverse to this, i havent lost any weight yet as ive only had it in around 3weeks, but ive TOTALLY lost my appetite, i used to eat ALOT in 1day, but now, i barely eat anything. for example i can live off and feel totally full off, a slice of toast in a mornin, nothin throughout the day until i have my tea at around 6'oclock, which is only a small portion (used to be a HUGE portion). im happy that im not eating as much as i could do with losing a little weight, im not megarley obese or anythin, im just a tiny bit overweight but i was just wondering if this was normal and wether people do actually loose their appetite as well as other people gaining a bigger appetite?

Tisha-1 agony auntThis link said that "change in appetite" is one of the potential side effects: http://www.plannedparenthood.org/health-topics/birth-control/birth-control-implant-implanon-4243.htm

You might want to keep this link bookmarked in case you run into other questions. Also, there should have been a product insert with the implant; make sure you have that, ask for it if they didn't give it to you.

Your body may still be getting used to the hormones in the contraceptive implant. If I were you, I'd make sure you know how to use portion control because you might need that skill after the first couple of months. I've been on the pill for two and a half months now and I gained 7.5 pounds since then. I started at 109.5.

When I first went on the pill, for the first week or so I completely lost my appetite and lost a few pounds. It was the same as you. But now it's been a bit over a month and my appetite is back to normal. Gaining weight is just the side effect you hear more about because people complain about it. Weight loss/appetite loss is just as common but you don't hear about it much because people aren't upset about it.
