I'm worried that I'll let my past ruin me trying to date this guy

A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I really like a guy I met on holiday last year. we met up over christmas as in my friends and his friends and we basically slept together and were quite flirty the next day. We haven't really kept in contact since then however recently we have spoke again via social networking sites and it brought back all those old feelings and I thought I want to explore this. But I'm not sure if he feels the same even though he is the one who intitiated contact.

The thing is I have no confidence to appraoch him. There is no way I want to rush into a relationship, it's my past experience which holds me back. However I have been single over a year now and feel he is the one I want to at least have a few dates with. But my confidence at zilch and I am so worried I won't recover from the rejection. There is also the problem of distance as well, but this is only just over an hour in the car.

Any advice? I am worried that I will let my past and especially my ex ruin this for me and I don't want to. But I am terrified of this guy telling me no. It would make it awkward for our group of friends as well. Any help would be appreciated x
