Apparently you can gain alot of weight, i'm not prepared to sacrafice my pain for that!!! I'm tall and fairly slim, this is the way i wanna stay. My aunt gained 2 stone within a year of taking the pill, which makes me even more hesitant to use it. I really need to take this pill though, are there any ways i can prevent putting weight on?Thanks xx

I've been on three different types of pill and none have made me put on any more than about 3 pounds - and most of that went onto my boobs.
The only time I've put on weight is when I've eaten too many chinese take aways and not done any exercise.
As long as you keep active, walk to college or work and don't pig out you will be fine.
Good luck!! xx

PS You have youth on your side so that should help in itself!
I would try it, see how it goes and then take it from there! xx

Hey,
I gain weight when I go on the pill as well, although my doctor says that everyone is different.
I think that the benefits of the pill far outweigh the side effect of possible weight gain, and I have had regular breaks from it over the years as well, to give my system a rest.
Why don't you chat with your doctor, and try a brand, and see how it works out. You can always try a few different ones to see which brand suits you.
Good luck! xx

There are many diffrent types of pills each with diffrent side effects i went on the pill at 15 due to very heavey periods and cramps so bad i couldnt even move. Since then i have been on 4 diffrent types and not one of them has made me gain any weight.
If you put on weight go to the doctor and get it changed, personally putting on weight is something i can live with after all you can loose weight a week of hell every month is something i can do with out.
Just try it if you gain weight just change the pill your on

Then you exercise, which is either having a workout or maybe just going through your normal daily routine, which is the same as making a withdrawal. If you keep the two in balance you'll maintain your weight at the same level.
Maybe the pill will give you more of an appetite, in which case you'll have to be careful not to give in to temptation and keep the cream cakes where they belong - on Tesco's shelves rather than your stomach.
Eating sensibly is the key. When you go on the pill keep track of your weight. If you put some on, eat less. I know it sounds simple but some self-control may be necessary to achieve your aim of staying as you are. Of course, if you gain weight the other option is to exercise more.
Google 'body mass index' and see if you're the right weight for your height, but that's just a rough guide. Some very large Rugby players are heavy but also extremely fit!
