I'm trying to be respectful of her request for space but I feel like I've lost the only thing that matters to me

A male United States age 51-59, *eo913 writes:

I have been dating the most wonderful woman in the world for the past 10 months. She and I have always told each other that we see the other as our one true soul mate, and we often talk about getting married and spending our lives together forever (we are both amazing lovers and the best of friends). Everyone we know (including us, obviously) tells us that we make the most amazing couple together. In that time, she has been in the midst of a breakup from her ex-husband with whom she has a three year old daughter (she has another child from a previous marriage). The father and daughter moved back to his home country, while she and her son stayed here. She recently got back from her second trip to see her daughter, and since then, everything has changed between us. She and I had a wonderful weekend away about a week and a half after she came back, but then a few days thereafter, she asked me for some time and space to sort through things with her family and her life. Mind you, we haven't gone as much as a day without speaking in 10 months, but now I haven't heard from her in over 2 weeks (I have tried to remain very respectful of her request). At the time, she was quite clear to tell me and write me that this was not a break-up, but I would have thought we would have spoken even briefly since then ...

My question is where do I go from here? When she asked for this space, she claimed it wasn't "me" or anything I have done, but I cannot help to feel that I've lost the only thing that has ever mattered to me in almost 40 years alive, and that she was just letting me down easy. I guess I would like some advice as to what any ladies think might be going on ... any insight would be so helpful right now. I would do anything to get my one and only true love back. Thank you for taking the time to read this ... I truly appreciate it.
