I'm too nervous to ask him out. What should I do?

A female United Kingdom age 26-29, anonymous writes:

There's this guy I really really like, I almost feel like I love him, although I know I dont as I'm too young to truly know what love is. I've liked him for quite a while now and he told me he likes me too. Whenever I see him, we will always hug and sometimes he will put his arm around me while we're talking to other people or he'll come up behind me and put his arms around my waist and hold me close, which I really love.

My friend said she spoke to him and he said he had been thinking about making something happen between us for a while, but there is someone else, and he just can't decide, he wants someone else to make a decision for him. I really like him and so want to go out with him, but I'm a very nervous and selfconcious person and know I won't be able to ask him out. What should I do?
