If you suddenly come out and say you want to 'break this friendship' it'll be taking things a little too over the top as she doesn't seem to know how you feel about her and would be a at a loss because she considered you a friend.

Of course it's gonna cause you great pain, you love her...she kinda let you down, or just got your hopes up and then let you down. Well, go face to face with her, go over to her house or she go to yours. Im not sure if you still care for her but if so, ask why? and ask her if she cares for you as much as you do?
If you just want to drop her like a bomb...talk to her about everything ..tell her that it's not gonna work becuase of (blah blah blah)...or don't tell her a reason if she loves you back she wouldnt do something to jepredize the relationship!
