A female United Kingdom age 41-50, anonymous writes:

Hi,

im sorry this isnt a relationship problem but i really need to vent off.

I have just been turned down for a job as a team leader in my workplace that i have now been for 2 and a half years. The girl that got the job is my colleague (we are the same age)and has been with the company for just over 1 year!! I even trained her up when she 1st started!!!

Im so pissed off!! My colleague is good at her job -as am i-she is better at sales than customer service and im the other way round. She has no people skills and is sooo rude to everyone-even our manger has had to take her a side on a few occasions and tell her to watch her language and her attitude!! I on the other hand have always kept my head down and worked hard,i have trained the majority of peole in the team. Now im no push over-i can stand my ground and my attitude is more positive. There is no way i can work there with her over seeing what i do,it makes me sick to the stomach!

I am looking for another job but in this credit crunch no one seems to be taking on staff plus i like my job but the fact She has got this position over me i just cant hold my head up high and get on!

My manager thought my colleague could cope better with the extra workload and responsibility-i dont see how as she aways kicks off when work starts piling up on her desk, takes extra cigarette breaks and leaves 10 minutes early!!!

Any advice on what i should do? Anyone been in this position?

Thanks.

eyeswideopen agony auntIf you have not discussed your disappointment with your manager you need to do so. He/she owes it to you to give you all the reasons he/shw picked her over you especially since you have senority. I know it must be hard to work under someone YOU'VE trained but if you like your job I think you will be able to adjust after your anger and disappointment subside.
